Why I broke up with booze –she cheated on me
Last drinks: I called out alcohol’s lies - and now get fully lit by life.
Alcohol and I had a long relationship - until I realised I was dating a compulsive liar.
Once I exposed the truth, I walked away. I reclaimed my energy, clarity and purpose, and found the real version of me.
For decades, I drank because that’s what society told me to do.
I loved champagne — the pop that marked it was time to relax and turn the brain off.
But, with journalistic curiosity, I challenged alcohol’s allure, and I discovered the extent it had a grip on me. I dug into the research, spoke to health professionals, and analysed the personal toll.
I wasn’t an alcoholic. But what I realised was that alcohol added nothing to my life. It only took every time I drank.
Uncovering the lies
On everything I had passively accepted, I found alcohol was deceiving me:
Alcohol was a reward. The truth? It punished my body, never fuelled it.
Drinking was relaxing. No. It compromised my sleep and spiked my anxiety.
Moderation was okay and manageable. Not for me. And the latest evidence shows there is no safe level of alcohol use.
Alcohol made life more fun. Actually, it blurred every experience, and I can have fun without it.
Everyone does it. Not everyone. There’s a growing secret society of folk who have questioned their relationship with alcohol and found a better life.
Drinking signalled success. Poppycock. That’s purely insidious (ultra clever) marketing. Bond can keep his tux and scotch.
Getting authentically ‘lit’
Once I named these lies, I walked away from a relationship that dimmed my light for too long.
Years later - happier, more fulfilled and energised – I share what I found. Not for money. Not for validation. Not out of smuggness.
For no other reason, than helping you increase your human capital.
I encourage you to check out what I discovered.
It won’t cost you a cent but what you earn from the investment in yourself - well, it’s like hitting the jackpocket.
Benefits a plenty
The benefits of going booze free hit immediately:
deeper, better sleep
improved health markers
sharper mind
more money (potentially thousands of dollars every year).
The standout was unlocking all-day energy.
My days are now substantially longer and more productive. So much so, I can quantify that gain.
I did that by developing the Energy Gain Calculator, my breakthrough simple tool that estimates your Time Gain and Energy Gain when you embrace an alcohol-free life.
What about you?
I hope my story can inspire you or support someone you know to reassess the relationship with that killjoy we know as booze.
These blogs and my other resources are designed to support you.
